J.D. Durkin

J.D. Durkin is the D.C. chief correspondent for the business news network Cheddar, and the co-host for the Monday Politics Hour at 12 p.m. on Cheddar Business.

Durkin reports on the intersection of tech, business, and politics, including D.C.’s influence on the stock market, and social media Congressional hearings. Recent interviews for Cheddar include House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Ivanka Trump, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, and Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue.

Prior to Washington, Durkin covered Wall St. from the floor of the New York Stock Exchange, reporting on quarterly earnings and interviewing some of America’s leading business voices. Recent exclusive reporting includes the September 11th Victims Compensation fight in Congress. As a columnist and senior editor for Mediaite, Durkin covered the newsrooms that shaped the 2016 presidential election, and helped launch the site’s original video platform.

He studied English at Villanova, and entered the Second City conservatory for improv and sketch comedy writing in 2009. His one-man show — Stephen Colbert: Hire Me — ran at the iO West in Hollywood and the PIT in New York City. He co-created, wrote, and directed the off-Broadway sketch comedy show The Joe Moses One Man Showses through 2013.
