Ken Dilanian

NBC NEWS NATIONAL SECURITY REPORTER

Ken Dilanian is an NBC News national security reporter for the NBC News Investigative Unit, based in Washington. He reports for the all the network’s television and digital platforms and appears regularly on “NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt” and MSNBC.

Previously, he spent 24 years as an award-winning print investigative reporter, covering national security for the Associated Press, the Los Angeles Times, USA Today and the Philadelphia Inquirer. Posted for three years as foreign correspondent based in Rome, he covered Europe and the Middle East and made multiple trips to Iraq to report on the war there, embedding with U.S. troops and also operating independently from Baghdad.

As a local reporter in Philadelphia, Dilanian won multiple awards for investigations into government dysfunction, including the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism for a series on the deaths of children under supervision by child protective services.

He is a graduate of Williams College with a degree in political science and history.
