The Empathy Tent is a project of the Center for Building a Culture of Empathy. Since the 2016 presidential election we have brought our Empathy Tent to the front lines at contentious and violent left/right rallies in Berkeley and throughout California. We listen to all sides and promote facilitated and constructive dialogue via Empathy Circles.

Our goal is to see everyone’s common humanity, help people de-escalate, empathize with each other, and figure out how to work creatively together towards positive solutions to our common problems. Many of our facilitated dialogues and meditations end in hugs between people on opposite sides of the political and social divides.
